VisualRep 5.0 for VFP 9.0 includes the following important
new functionality and enhancements: |
- Search capability within the
report: Imagine you have 400 pages in a report and you
need to find a category somewhere in the report, all it takes
one click and you are there.
- High resolution display:
You can zoom up to 500%.
- Show multiple pages: You
can display up to 4 pages at the same time.
- New status bar: You can
now show a status bar while a report is generated so the user
knows what's going on.
- Improved report conversion:
Conversion is much faster now to MS word, PDF, spread sheet,
html and text mode. No need for Adobe Acrobat to be installed on
the computer when generating report PDF files.
- Move to any application while
the main form is opened: The main form is no longer
modal. A user can now move anywhere in an application while the
main form is open.
- New report pull down menu:
Added pull down menu accessed right from the report to use
different features, such as zoom, display multiple pages and
more.
- Limit the number of records in
query: Added Advanced form within the query wizard to
allow you to limit the number of records to be shown in the
query, such as the Top 100 records or the Top 10%. That could be
useful if you need to find, say, the top 5% of the sales reps
that generated the most revenue.
- Exclude duplicate records:
Added a check mark in the advanced form to exclude duplicate
records.
- Bind expressions into a table:
Added the capability to bind expressions into a table. If you
select the Clients table, all expressions that were created for
the table will be shown as regular fields.
- Performance and Speed:
Improved the main engine speed and performance.
- Fixes and Enhancements: VisualRep 5.0
also includes many fixes and minor enhancements that
make it a major step up from prior VisualRep versions.

For years ProMatrix users were asking us
to create a report writer and query tool that integrates with Visual ProMatrix. Some ProMatrix users expressed their dissatisfaction with
the report writers currently available for Visual FoxPro and felt
that we could create something better. However, other priorities
prevented us from responding to user demand for a ProMatrix query
and reporting tool. |
|
Fortunately, while we were working on other
things, a ProMatrix user was creating a query and reporting tool
that provides the functionality ProMatrix users have been demanding
and then some. That tool is VisualRep, created by Doron Farber of
the Farber Consulting Group, Inc. |
|
While we say that VisualRep is “the query and
reporting tool for Visual ProMatrix”, the beauty of VisualRep is
that it can be used with any Visual FoxPro application. It’s just
that if you are using Visual ProMatrix, VisualRep is even more
powerful. |
| Not Just for
ProMatrix Users: You don't have to be a Visual ProMatrix
user to use VisualRep. All Visual FoxPro developers using any VFP
framework can benefit from VisualRep. |
|
|
|
| VisualRep is Two products in ONE!
VisualRep is a query and reporting tool for both developers
and end users. |
-
Developers: VisualRep
is a query and reporting framework that lets developers
create and run queries and reports from within an
application.
- End Users: VisualRep
is also a stand-alone query and reporting application that
can be run by end users from the computer desktop or from
within an application.
|
| Database Support: VisualRep can
create and run queries and reports for the most popular
databases, such as Visual FoxPro, Oracle, SQL Server and MS
Access. |
| Data Dictionary Support: VisualRep
supports the Visual ProMatrix, Visual FoxPro and DBCX data
dictionaries. VisualRep reads metadata such as tables,
relations, field names, field formats, captions, etc. from
the supported data dictionaries. |
| Report Output Support: VisualRep can
generate reports in all of the following output formats:
Text, HTML, PDF, Word, Excel, XML and DBF. |
|
 |
|
|
|
|
| VisualRep is a "killer" application for Visual
ProMatrix users because of the unique features described below. No
other query and reporting tool for Visual FoxPro provides these
valuable features. |
- VPM Data Dictionary Support: All you need to do to
start running reports and queries using the data in a VPM
application is point VisualRep to the application's data
dictionary. What's more, VisualRep will use the table and field
properties that you have already entered in the VPM data
dictionary (including table relations). This feature alone can
save you hours of set up time.
|
- VPM Security Support: The number one request related to
reports and queries that we have received from ProMatrix users
is for a query and reporting tool that uses VPM's extensive
security features -- particularly, field level security.
VisualRep is the only tool that satisfies that request. When you
use VisualRep with VPM's Security, users will not be able to see
fields in queries and reports that they do not have permission
to view.
|
- VPM Version/Edition Support: VisualRep can identify
which edition and version of VPM you are running and configure
itself to support the VPM data dictionary and security features
for your VPM version/edition. Within a VPM application,
VisualRep can detect the VPM version/edition used to create the
application in order to support the application's data
dictionary and security features.
