Converting VPM Standard Apps to Enterprise
|
|
How to Convert a VPM Standard Application/Project to VPM Enterprise
|
| When you upgrade from VPM Standard to VPM Enterprise, you can easily
convert a VPM Standard project to a VPM Enterprise project by taking the
following steps: |
- Create a New VPM Enterprise Project: You first must create a new
VPM Enterprise project that uses the same 3-character project prefix
as your VPM Standard Project. From the New Project dialog, be sure
to open the
New Project Directories dialog and change the project directories to
be different than the directories you are using for the VPM Standard
project.
- Copy Files to the New VPM Enterprise Project: You must update the new
VPM Enterprise project by copying files and data from your VPM
Standard project to the new Enterprise project. The following files
should be copied:
- Your Files: The tables, databases, forms, programs and other
files that you created in the VPM Standard Project.
- System Tables: The
following VPM Standard project system tables and related files (CDX
and FPT): S<Prefix>DGK.DBF, S<Prefix>FCO.DBF, S<Prefix>FMNU.DBF,
S<Prefix>SUSR.DBF, and S<Prefix>UMES.DBF.
- Non-System Data: The
non-system records from the following tables in the VPM Standard
project: S<Prefix>DD0.DBF, S<Prefix>DD1.DBF, S<Prefix>DD2.DBF,
S<Prefix>DIND.DBF, and S<Prefix>URPT.DBF. These tables in the
new VPM Enterprise project already contain the correct records
for the system databases, tables, fields, index tags, and
reports. Therefore, the only records that should be added to
these tables are the records pertaining to the databases,
tables, fields, index tags, and reports that you created in the
VPM Standard project.
- Update Menus: Update the
menus in the new VPM Enterprise project with the menu options that
you added to your VPM Standard project.
- Temporarily Rename VPMS Project
Home Directory: Temporarily rename the home directory of the
VPM Standard project. In the next step, you will have Visual FoxPro
build the new VPM Enterprise project. By renaming the VPM Standard
project's home directory, you will prevent VFP from pulling into the
VPME Project Manager any files from the VPM Standard project
directories.
- Build Project: Build the
new VPM Enterprise project through the VFP Project Manager in VPME.
Select the Recompile All Files and Display Errors options before you
build. This build should add to the VPME Project Manager most, if
not all, of the files that should be in the Project Manager.
- Manually Add Files to Project
Manager: If any files in the VPME project were not added to
the VFP Project Manager for the project, manually add the files.
- Rename VPMS Project Home
Directory: Don't forget to rename the VPM Standard project's
home directory back to its name before step 4.
