Some FoxPro developers have told us that they are
leery of products like Visual ProMatrix because they fear that an "application
generator" will reduce their "flexibility". Interestingly, we have found
that it’s usually those developers who need Visual ProMatrix the most.
Some Visual ProMatrix users have told us that before they
understood how to use Visual ProMatrix, they felt that the approach we recommend for
application development would restrict their freedom. However, after learning and using
VPM, they discovered that they loved the VPM approach. They found that Visual ProMatrix
really didn’t restrict their flexibility or freedom at all. They learned that Visual
ProMatrix provided an organized application development environment that helped them
create better applications in much less time than ever before.

Flexible!
When you start using Visual ProMatrix, you will
learn the basic steps to create applications in Visual ProMatrix. While we recommend that
you follow our basic steps, you don’t have to! If you want to create forms before
you’ve entered all your application’s menu options, go ahead — do it! If
you want to use the Visual FoxPro Project Manager to organize your application development
instead of the VPM Object Builder — do it! Visual ProMatrix does not restrict your
flexibility. It dramatically increases your flexibility because it puts at your fingertips
tools that you don’t have with Visual FoxPro alone. Visual ProMatrix also adds
features to your applications that you would never have the time to develop yourself. That
gives you more options. That gives you more flexibility. |
